MAINTENANCE:

ELVIRA MAINTENANCE Ever changing detailing, oil change, lube, etc. maintenance routines developed for Elvira based on what Cadillac will allow, including required tools, materials and procedures.

"Elvira" is a 2017 Cadillac ATS V Series Coupe, a baby Caddy factory hot rod.

I'd been daily drivin' a monthly rental Fiat 500 junebug for almost six months. I like shifting gears and I was really missing it. With BettyLou consigned to scrap, I decided it was time to get a reliable daily driver that was also fun. With that in mind, I went to the local dealer on my day off in late November, placed a deposit and initiated a build on a 2017 Cadillac ATS V Series Coupe.

This thing has a 3.6 L V6, 24 valve, DOHC, twin-turbo engine with direct injection, variable valve timing and titanium rods connected to a six-speed manual tranny. I will Christen it "Elvira" and it should be here in six to eight weeks. That was the last week in November.

The week after Christmas, the Dealer rep called me to inform me that Elvira was scheduled to start production on January 2.

On Monday, January 9, the dealer called to inform me that Elvira had been shipped and was on her way from Lansing.

On Tuesday, January 10, the dealer called again to tell me that Elvira should be on their lot sometime Thursday.

On Friday afternoon, friends Euge Reidy and Wayne Harlow dropped me off at Sheehan Cadillac to take delivery of Elvira. I was just recovering from a week long gum infection and I felt good despite the fact I was picking up a car named "Elvira" on Friday the 13th. During the gum infection episode, I extracted a loose tooth. This prompted co-worker Rick Steffan to remark "If you drive a Cadillac and pull your own teeth, you might be a redneck." On the short ride back to the Krash Kubicle, I could tell that Elvira was going to be wicked good fun just as Joe Magri cautioned. Oh yeah, I've stalled her once so we got that out of the way.

Nothing here yet but this area will include Elvira's ENHANCEMENT LOG which will consist of log entries of repairs and enhancements between the time of Elvira's arrival in Florida and the present.

It doesn't look as if Cadillac will let me perform much of my own maintenance so, not much will be happening in this area at first. A Factory Service Manual is not even available yet. I've added a ELVIRA MAINTENANCE section anyway for when they do make more info available.
