"Renegade" is a 1991 Jeep Wrangler Renegade.

I bought Renegade new in 1991 and he is the only vehicle I've ever owned new right off the showroom floor . . . the first and probably the last. My personal opinion is that autos have become overpriced and I choose not to support the high prices. In the mid-sixties, you could buy a new Corvette for $3,500. Renegade cost over $20,000 and about a third of that cost was for the special "Renegade" package. I intend to keep him until I grow too old to drive or the government takes him away from me.

HISTORY

I haven't done much of my own work on Renegade since I purchased him in 1991. However, one of my Y2K resolutions is to start doing a lot of my own maintenance (I get an unnatural, irrational twitch between my ears that tells me Renegade is miffed at all the attention I lavish on BillyBob). The PATROL LOG history of Renegade includes log entries of minor repairs and adventures between the time I got Renegade and the present.

MAINTENANCE

Renegade has suffered somewhat as I spend most of my tinkering time getting BillyBob restored and now I have BettyLou to take care of too. I've decided to try to employ "economy of scale" methods and do similar maintenance on all three vehicles at the same time. In concert with that effort, I've added the RENEGADE MAINTENANCE section to the Rat Patrol motor pool.
